On Star Trek: The Next Generation Geordi wears a visor that allows him to see things at an infrared levels. In real life the visor made it nearly impossible to see, leaving Geordi blind!
I prefer Reading Rainbow over Star Trek. I will assume my love for books was because of LeVar Burton. I can clearly remember the episode where he talks about Star Trek and his visor.
