Fig Roll

Dried figs from Turkey. 
 Snipped up and ready to cook. 

 Brown sugar, figs, vanilla and orange juice.
 Cooked for about 20 minutes or until soft.
 Blend the mixture in food processor until smooth. 
 With dough rolled out place the fig mixture in the middle. 
 Fold the sides over.
 Bake until golden brown.

 Enjoy those cookies! 

For the dough:
½ cup Butter
½ cup Sugar
¼ tsp Salt
1 Egg yolk
½ tsp Vanilla extract
1 ½ cups All-Purpose Flour
¼ tsp Baking Powder
1 tsp Cinnamon

For the filling:

8 oz dried figs (I use Turkish figs), quartered

1 ¾ cups Orange Juice

½ tsp ground Cinnamon
pinch of freshly grated Nutmeg
¼ cup Dark Brown Sugar
2 tsp Lemon Juice
pinch of salt
